A 7-Year-Old Boy Was Accidentally Killed by His Own Father Driving a Truck in a Christmas Parade

A Christmas parade in Tennessee ended tragically when a seven-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a truck driven by his dad.

Rowan Ace Frensley was struck by a trailer being towed by the F-150 pick-up truck while attending an event in a parking lot at Mt. Juliet Middle School, according to a news release from the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

7-year-old Rowan Ace Frensley was accidentally killed by his own father during a Christmas parade in Tennessee.

Art Frensley, Rowan’s father, was driving the truck that was carrying passengers in the trailer who were preparing to disembark. Rowan fell off the trailer while it was being driven slowly around the parking lot and was then hit by the pickup truck, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

Paramedics were called immediately and Rowan was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to Highway Patrol.

Art told The Tennessean that he and the family “appreciates all prayers,” but did not comment further.

Rowan was a student at W.A. Wright Elementary School and was participating in the parade with Cub Scout Pack 912, according to The Tennessean.

Two fundraisers have been set up to help raise money for the family: one by family friend Tammie Brittain, which has raised over $80,000 dollars, and one on GoFundMe, which has raised over $11,000.

The community held a vigil in honor of Rowan on Sunday evening at the school, according to police.

‪”#MtJuliet came out strong this afternoon to heal and shine a light for Rowan at a candlelight vigil in his honor. Thank you to all the community members & pastors who came together to organize such a touching event for little Rowan,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
