Several days after sharing the name they are choosing to call their newborn son, the creator of the Tesla Elon Musk and singer Grimes are explaining the meaning behind the unique moniker.

Around seven months pregnant, Grimes admitted that they had chosen a name for the baby whose gender they didn’t want to announce. But she also admitted that it was a name no one liked.

“I have a name for the baby, but I don’t want to say what it is because everyone I’ve told it hates it,” she said at the time. “And everyone’s gonna make fun of it. But it is, in fact, a genius name, and people just don’t appreciate it yet because it’s too avant-garde.”

Now, after the couple’s baby boy made his way into the world on May 4, Grimes and Musk are explaining the meaning behind his name.

Meet X Æ A-12 Musk:

And with a single tweet, Grimes explained all the variables of her son’s name.

“X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence) •A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat).”

Following her tweet, Musk responded to it saying, “SR-71, but yes.” To which Grimes seemingly revealed their son was born via a c-section.

“I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit,” Grimes shared on Twitter. “That was meant to be profound.” Elon then called the mother of his child “a powerful [fairy queen]. Which Grimes very much appreciated.

Nonetheless, while Grimes explained the meaning behind X Æ A-12‘s name, neither she or Musk revealed how they are choosing to pronounce it on Twitter but did so in the comments section of her most recent Instagram.

While sharing her Vogue Italian cover with her followers, someone commented asking the new mom how she will be pronouncing her son’s name. And it’s actually a lot simpler than one may have been thinking.

“It’s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I.”
