The daughter of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas, Stella Banderas Griffith, is going through a name change.
The 25-year-old model filed a petition in Los Angeles requesting a judge to remove part of her last name.
Stella was born Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith but is seeking for her new legal name to be Stella del Carmen Banderas.
In the court documents, she cites her reason for filing as wanting “to shorten my name by removing the extra last name.”
“As well, I typically do not use “Griffith” when referring to myself or on documents,” she added in the filing per The Blast. “So, dropping the name would match my regular use.”
Stella was raised out of the spotlight by her famous parents and born in Spain. She is the sister of actress Dakota Johnson and Alexander Bauer on her mother’s side. Stella and Banderas married in the 1996. The two split in 2015 but have remained close friends.
Stella made her acting debut in the 1999 film Crazy in Alabama, which her father directed and her mother starred in.
Earlier in the month, Stella walked the red carpet with dad Antonio at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.
Stella posted a photo of the two on her Instagram account, writing, “Father and daughter ♥️♥️♥️ Stella and Antonio on the red carpet at San Sebastion Film Festival. #reunited #family #love @stellabanderasgriffith @antoniobanderasoficial.”
And recently, this past Sunday, Stella posted an endearing Instagram post of Stella and Dakota, writing, “Happy National Daughters Day…… ♥️.”
But Stella is not the only one that ditched her last name due to a famous. Just ask Mia Threapleton.
In a recent interview, Kate Winselt revealed how her daughter, Mia, 20, is actually using her father’s surname to book high-profile acting jobs in the entertainment industry.
Winslet and Jim Threapleton were married from 1998 to 2001. “(She’s) 20 and acting,” Winslet revealed to Scottish interviewer Lorraine Kelly on her show “Lorraine.”
“I think I knew (it) was coming, I always suspected,” said the Oscar winner. “And then a few years ago, she turned around and said, ‘I’d like to give it a go.’”
Threapleton did however appear in her mother’s movie “A Little Chaos” in 2014; her other IMDb credit is for the 2020 film “Shadows.”
