Over the years, Terri Irwin has been a featured subject in the dating rumor mill. As her son, Robert Irwin said on the KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, his mom has been linked to a lot of people.
“Mum has been linked to something like 30 people,” Robert explained. “I mean, it was King Charles, it was Russell, it was everyone.”
But Terri was ready to set the record straight.
And according to the 59-year-old admitted that she often has “a lot of quiet evenings with a nice, big, juicy pizza.”
She went on to clarify that she has not dated anyone since her beloved husband Steve Irwin passed away tragically in 2006.
Now, in an interview with Us Weekly, Terri is telling the world that she “totally got my happily ever after” with her late husband Steve and doesn’t have any plans to date again.
“And while there are a lot of wonderful men in the world, can you see another Steve Irwin? I just can’t. I’d be like, ‘I love that you’re a librarian and the Dewey Decimal System is cool, but I got to go jump a crocodile and do that.’ Forget that,” she said.
“I had the best marriage in the whole world for 14 years, and I’m very comfortable with the person I see in the mirror,” Terri continued. “So I’m okay to be on my own now. And I’m lonely for Steve, but I’m not a lonely person, so I’m very lucky.”
Back in March, Terri revealed the question Steve asked her when they first starting dating that made her fall in love with him.
In an Instagram post, Terri Irwin shared a photo of herself with her favorite animal, the cougar. As she shared in her caption, when she and Steve “first met, he asked me about my favorite animal.”
As Terri continued, “when I told him how much I loved cougars, he asked me why.” Terri admitted that no one had ever asked her “why” cougars were her favorite animal, but she had an answer ready to go.
“I told him it was because cougars are such impressive predators, they can kill an animal larger than themselves with just their teeth.”
Steve smiled at his future wife’s answer, replying, “‘That’s why I love crocodiles!’ And the rest is history,” Terri wrote.
Steve passed away nearly 18 years ago, in September 2006. But the Irwin family has kept his memory and legacy alive through their continued work with animals and the Australia Zoo.
On Valentine’s Day, Terri shared a photo of herself and Steve together, writing, “My forever Valentine.”
Steve and Terri’s children, Robert and Bindi are also still heavily involved in the family business. So is his granddaughter and his son-in-law as well.
“Thankful for every moment shared,” Bindi wrote on her mom’s post revealing that “every day is so special at the Australia Zoo.”
