7 Shows Now Streaming that Get Mom Life Just Right
Here are some of our favorite TV shows that capture parenting in the most entertaining way possible:
Workin’ Moms, Netflix
The Canadian import, now streaming four seasons on Netflix, follows a group of four moms as they balance work and life. The moms initially meet at a parenting group, bringing very different personalities and parenting styles to the table. The show delves into relationships, working, childcare, and much more. The series was created by working mom Catherine Reitman, who also stars in the series.
The Letdown, Netflix
Like Workin’ Moms, the Australian import, also streaming on Netflix, follows a group of new moms who meet at a parenting group. The show focuses on new mom Audrey after the birth of her daughter as she navigates the different challenges of parenting and relationships.
I’m Sorry, Hulu
Comedian Andrea Savage developed this series which follows her character, Andrea Warren, as she manages parenthood, marriage, her career, and the competitive LA social scene. The show is described as “comically exposing [Andrea’s] inner immaturity and neuroses through unexpected life situations.” For example, Andrea finds herself in an uncomfortable situation after accidentally sending a racy pic to her daughter’s teacher. The show airs on Tru-TV and streams on Hulu.
Black-ish, Hulu
The comedy, starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, follows several upper-middle-class families as they juggle parenthood, relationships, careers, and friends. Additionally, the show focuses on how to find a “cultural identity” for your family and managing how to give your kids more than you had without giving them everything. The show, which is currently airing its seventh season, airs on ABC and streams on Hulu.
Single Parents, Hulu
The show follows a group of single parents as they manage raising seven-year-olds, jobs, the PTA, dating, and more. The group, including Leighton Meester and Brad Garrett, all have different parenting styles but open up to one another as they encounter life’s various hurdles. The show airs on ABC and streams on Hulu.
#blackAF, Netflix
The show follows Emmy-award winning TV writer and actor Kenya Barris and his on-screen family, including TV wife Rashida Jones, as they handle relationships and their newfound success. The comedy is highlighted as one of Netflix’s “Black Lives Matter Collection” as it also delves into race and culture.
Better Things, Hulu
Better Things follows single mom Sam Fox as she balances raising three daughters, takes care of her mom, and attempts to get work as an actor in LA. The show is a comedy, but also notable for its heart.
Laughter is the best way to end the day, especially when you can laugh along with another family’s craziest, but most relatable moments. These shows perfectly highlight the best/worst moments of family life.
