Tan France and his partner Rob announce the birth of their beautiful baby boy three months after revealing they were expecting and growing their family.
You might remember when Tan France set the internet on fire with the best baby announcement to date.
Back in June, Tan France, one of the stars of Netflix’s Queer Eye opened up about the surrogacy process and the highs and lows he and his partner endured in order to become parents for the first time to Romper. In his interview, as Mamas Uncut previously reported, he talked about the decision to go down the surrogacy path, rather than adopt.
“We decided on surrogacy as opposed to adoption. A lot of people ask about this, and a lot of people have really aggressive opinions that they insist on sharing,” France told Romper. “The way I feel about it is this: If adoption is right for you, it’s right for you. If surrogacy is right for you, it’s right for you. You go with the option that makes the most sense for your life.”
And while Tan and Rob now have a great relationship with the woman who carried their son, it was quite the process of finding her. As Tan told Romper, he doesn’t like to get into the specifics of that journey, but it wasn’t easy.
“We know that we’re blessed to have her,” Tan said of their surrogate, adding that they were in constant communication with her via FaceTime due to COVID-19 protocols that were put in place at the time they learned they were expecting a baby boy!
However, this is what the new dad had to say about actually finding the right woman to trust this process with. “I don’t like to get into it, but we had some false starts before we found our current surrogate,” Tan explained. “It’s been a long road to get here, and so after the initial embryo transfer, Rob and I were both on edge as we waited to find out if it had worked. For those 10 days, I felt physically sick.”
Nonetheless, it all ended up working out for Tan and Rob and as the couple revealed on Instagram, they finally got to bring their beautiful baby home!
As it turns out, their baby boy, who they named Ismail France, was born seven weeks early. Thankfully, after a 3-week stay in the NICU, Ismail is now home with his dotting fathers.
“Give our son a warm welcome. Ismail France, born July 10th,” Tan wrote on Instagram. “We love him so, so much. Like, fully obsessed. Our Surrogate is doing so great, post-labor, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the greatest gift in our lives.”
How amazing is that? Congratulations to the France family!
