Our hearts go out to a North London mother, Duygu Agac, who lost her 18-month-old son, Ali, after he fell 100 feet from a ninth-floor window

Duygu Agac is paying tribute to her “wonderful” son and also demanding a full investigation as to how her baby Ali crawled through an allegedly faulty window.

The devastated mom claimed that she had made repeated complaints to the local council about faulty and broken locks on the windows of her 20-story residence in Tottenham, North London.

While speaking to the London Evening Standard, Duygu demanded answers. “I had reported the window,” she said.

“The council came as an emergency but they thought there was a problem with the window frame but it wasn’t, it was the handle that locks. They were due to come and fix it this week. When they came, they closed the window but the handle didn’t lock. We want a full investigation.”

While speaking about her son, she added, “He was a wonderful boy… I am heartbroken.”

Haringey Council confirmed that an investigation is being conducted.

“Our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time,” said Zina Etheridge, the council’s chief executive. “We can confirm that the block is managed by Homes for Haringey, who are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances.”

“The police are currently investigating and it would be inappropriate for us to comment further, or speculate, until more is known about this very sad incident,” Etheridge said.
