Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s Sons Give Update on Parents’ Status After Their Coronavirus Diagnosis

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson‘s sons have been quick to share an update with the world to quell any concern, reassuring everyone that their parents are doing well after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

Chet Hanks was quick to post to Instagram in a video sharing with fans how he had just gotten off the phone with his parents, who are currently in an Australian hospital.

“Wassup everyone. Yea, its true my parents got coronavirus. Crazy,” he began.

“They’re both down in Australia right now ’cause my dad was shooting a movie down there. I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine. They’re not even that sick. They’re not worried about it. They’re not trippin’ but they’re going through the necessary health precautions obviously.”

“I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about. I appreciate everyone’s concern and the well wishes. I think it’s all going to be alright. I appreciate it. Everybody stay safe out there. Much love.”

The oldest son of the couple, Colin Hanks, tweeted his appreciation over the concern for his family.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone. My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances.”

“Despite the fact I’m in LA and haven’t seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery.”

Tom Hanks announced the news late Wednesday evening.

Both he and Wilson were in Australia while Hanks was doing pre-production work on a film about singer Elvis Presley.

Hanks is playing Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, while Austin Butler is playing Presley. Baz Luhrmann is set to direct.

Hanks said both he and his wife will “keep the world posted and updated.” Then, earlier today, he shared another update via Instagram.

The caption reads:

“Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx”

We wish them both a speedy recovery!
