We Finally Learned Why Johnny Depp Refuses to Look at Amber Heard

If you’ve watched any footage from the defamation trial Johnny Depp brought against Amber Heard, you would have noticed that Depp has refused to look at or anywhere near his ex-wife. The internet has run rampant with theories as to why that is.

Instead of looking at Heard while she’s been testifying, Depp is seen intently drawing on pieces of scrap paper. Once or twice during the trial, Depp has been seen showing off his drawings to the lawyers that surround him.

However, we are now learning the real reason why Johnny Depp refuses to look at Amber Heard. Heard is currently being cross-examined by Depp’s legal team. It was Depp’s lawyer that explained it all.

While questioning Heard, Depp’s lawyer said, “Mr. Depp hasn’t looked at you once this entire trial, has he?” To which Heard replied, saying, “Not that I’ve noticed, no.”

“You’ve looked at him though many times, haven’t you,” Camille Vasquez retorted. “Yes, I have,” Heard can be heard saying back.

And that’s when Vasquez revealed the promise Depp allegedly made to Heard. “You know exactly why Mr. Depp won’t look back at you, don’t you?” Vasquez asked. “He promised you would never see his eyes again. Isn’t that true?”

It was then that a meeting that took place between the former lovers in 2016 was discussed. According to the line of questioning, two months after Heard took out a temporary restraining order against Depp, she asked to meet him in San Fransisco.

According to a former agent’s testimony, the July 2016 meeting was arranged because Heard wanted to get back together with Depp. However, Heard said in her testimony that wasn’t true. “I wanted to minimize the animosity. I wanted to reconcile in that way. I didn’t want to get back together with him,” she told the court.

That’s when a recording from that meeting was played. In the recording, Depp tells Heard, “We won’t have to see each other again. … You will not see my eyes again.”

Other snippets from that same recording appear to reveal Heard upset because Depp won’t allow her to touch him. He can also be heard saying, “I’m nothing to you.”

Vasquez then asked Heard, “He kept that promise, hasn’t he?” “As far as I know, he cannot look at me,” Heard replied. “He won’t look at you, right Ms. Heard?”

“He can’t,” Heard said again.

As the questioning continues, Depp’s team brings up the recording in which Heard seems to encourage Depp to come out as an abuse victim because no one will believe him anyway. Heard explained herself, saying her words weren’t because men couldn’t be victims, but it was because Heard allegedly beat her up for five years.

She also alleged, when asked if she beat Johnny up too, that “she could never hurt Johnny.”

“Depp is your victim, isn’t he, Ms. Heard,” Vasquez questioned the actress. “No, ma’am,” Heard replied.
