A 1-year-old boy named Brooks Williams sure loves spending time with his newborn sister, Collyns Williams and a video of the two children has gone viral. The little boy adores his new sister so much that he cried every time the newborn is taken from his sight.
According to People, Ashlyn Williams was concerned that her 1-year-old with down syndrome might get jealous of the new addition to the family. When the mother took her daughter home from the hospital on March 17, she didn’t know what to expect.
A viral video shows 1-year-old Brooks Williams totally in love with his newborn sister.
When Ashlyn handed her daughter to her husband, Logan Williams she watched in amazement as Brooks giggled and smiled as the baby joined him on his father’s lap. The couple from Richland Township, Arkansas was even more in awe of what happened next.
After Ashlyn picked her daughter up and held her out of Brooks’ sight, her son began to cry, wanting his little sister to return to his side.
The young parents couldn’t believe that their son would react to his little sister in this way.
The loving baby boy bursts into tears whenever his sister is taken away which is just the sweetest thing in the world. In the video, Ashlyn can be heard saying, “You want her back? Okay, okay, okay, okay.”
Ashlyn returns her daughter to her son and his mood immediately changes, delighted once more. You can even see Brooks nestle closer to his little sister.
Ashlyn had been concerned that Brooks would not want to share attention, but those fears were quickly put to rest.
“We weren’t sure how Brooks would react to having a baby around and whether he’d get jealous of having to share attention,” Ashlyn explained. “But it was really sweet, he already loves her so much.”
“When he first met her in the hospital, he reacted exactly the same way so we just had to capture it on video,” she shared. “He is such a loving young boy, and we were just so tickled by his reaction.”
We’re tickled too!
It’s clear from the comments and shares on the video that we’re all tickled with Brooks.
Brooks is such a sweet big brother and the internet adores him. The video has been shared over 10,000 times on Facebook alone and thousands have commented and expressed their delight.
“My heart, cutest ever,” one person wrote.
“A bond so strong already, how beautiful is that?” another added.
One out of every 700 children is born with down syndrome.
Brooks has down syndrome and about 6,000 babies born each year also have the condition. “Babies with Down syndrome have an extra copy of one of these chromosomes, chromosome 21,” according to the Centers for Disease Control.
The condition usually requires therapy, but many people with the condition go on to lead happy lives. We’re so thrilled that this video is making waves on the internet. Brooks is such a beautiful big brother and we love his love for his newborn sister.
