Preparations for the upcoming funeral for Prince Philip are underway in London. Ahead of the service which will occur on Saturday, new photos of the Prince have been published and shared with the public.

While Queen Elizabeth II returns to her royal duties, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, shared some photos that she snapped as well as others from the archives to mourn the loss of the late Prince. One photo, imparticular, has caught the interest of royal watchers. The never-before-seen image shows The Queen and Prince Philip surrounded by most of their great-grandchildren.

Kate, who shared the sweet image, informed the public that the photo was taken by her in 2018 at Balmoral Castle. In the photo, the Queen is seen cradling Prince Louis, while the other great-grandkids surround her and the Prince in their Scottish Castle.

The image was one of many that were shared by members of the royal family to their various social media accounts. Another image with the Prince of Wales, Philip’s son has also caused a stir online.

“Remembering The Duke of Edinburgh as a much-loved Father and Father-in-Law,” a tweet from Prince Charles and wife, Duchess Camilla, reads.

The image remembers Philip as he was seen in public life but another image the account shared shows him as a private figure and father.

The account shared a throwback photo of Prince Charles in his youth with his father both on horseback, holding polo mallets.

On Thursday the Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, visited a collection of flowers and condolence messages left by the mourning public that had been moved from outside Buckingham Palace to private gardens at Marlborough House, another royal building. The move was made due to Covid-19 restrictions, NBC News reported.

Crowds gathered outside of the royal residences, including Buckingham Palace in central London and Windsor Castle about 25 miles away, to lay floral tributes and hand-written notes in the wake of Philip’s death, the outlet also reported.

Princess Eugenie shared her own memory of her “dearest Grandpa” on her personal Instagram page, stating that he “would be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared.”

Philip, who had ruled by the Queen’s side throughout her 69-year reign, died at Windsor Castle on Friday aged 99. His funeral, codenamed “Operation Forth Bridge,” will be held on Saturday.

Four days after the death of her husband, Queen Elizabeth returned to some royal duties. The Queen even hosted a ceremony on Tuesday to mark the retirement of her household’s most senior official.

Rehearsals for the scaled-back funeral are currently underway, with military parades and bands practicing for the event at Windsor Castle.

Attendance will be limited to 30 people due to coronavirus restrictions in England. A ceremonial procession will take place followed by a service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Prince Harry, who moved to California last year, has returned to the UK without his pregnant wife, Meghan Markle, who was advised against traveling by her doctor. Earlier this week, Harry joined his brother Prince William to commemorate Prince Philip’s hard work, character, and sense of humor in separate statements.

“My grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end,” Prince Harry said at the time.
