Don’t rain on their parade! Jade and Houston Holmes had planned a country club wedding with over 200 guests expected to attend. Because of new safety guidelines implemented due to coronavirus, their plans were dashed and they instead decided to marry in a downsized ceremony.
Instead of the big wedding, the pair was forced to move the wedding to a family backyard in Dallas, Texas. After the modest ceremony, Jade and Houston who are both 22 moved to the front yard of the home for some photos and they got the surprise of their lives.
The freshly married couple were shocked to find that their downsized wedding had turned into a big parade.
The couple was pleasantly surprised to find a long line of cars filled with guests who were supposed to attend the wedding. It was a wedding day parade! According to People, the parade consisted of over 50 vehicles many of which were decorated with balloons. Drivers honked their horns and passengers yelled out the window, cheering for the newly minted husband and wife.
In addition to cars, there were also trailers pulled behind a couple of the vehicles that resembled parade floats. The participants also through “J & H” ballons to the couple and showered them with confetti.
The couple looked legit shocked when the cars started to roll by.
The couple emerged from the front yard of the groom’s parents and look truly surprised by the gesture. It’s understandable that any couple would be a little upset after putting so much work and planning into the wedding that they had intended.
The look on the faces of the attendees of the wedding party is ecstatic as car after car rolls by. Each car was filled with families that they hand invited.

Social distancing is changing the way we live right now, but people are finding creative workarounds.
Health officials have said that the only way to slow the spread of COVID-19 is by practicing good hygiene and social distancing. Because of the creative thinking of this couple’s guests, they were able to celebrate at a safe distance.
We imagine this type of gesture made the entire day even more special than a traditional wedding. We know the couple wanted their big wedding, but how many couples can say they got a literal parade on their wedding day?
Houston Holmes posted pictures after the event.
Houston posted photos from the special day to his Instagram account. He captioned the photos, “We said we’d get married on the 21st, come hell or high water (or pandemic). We did it with our 9 closest friends and family… and an ENTIRE PARADE. Up next: relax.”
An entire parade indeed! The young newlyweds look so incredibly happy and we’re thrilled for them.
A smaller wedding was not ideal but a whole lot of people got to celebrate this lucky couple on their wedding day. Although we’re living through strange times, we can still show up for people and spread love in unexpected ways.
