“When he’s not with me, I take a bath and that really feels nourishing and comforting,” Silverstone, who shares Bear with ex-husband Christopher Jarecki, shared.

The former couple married in 2005 and later divorced in 2018. Silverstone shared how she also enjoyed cooking, taking long walks, yoga, and writing in her journal. But above all, she has been focusing on her health.

“I always bring everything back to diet,” Silverstone confided to The New York Times. “When I don’t eat well, I don’t feel well, and then my moods go all over the place.”

According to the Times, Silverstone has been committed to veganism since her early 20s. She also admits the lifestyle helped clear up her acne as well as assisted her in losing weight. And in 2017, Silverstone called feeding her son a vegan diet, a “no-brainer.”

“Being able to do something that is good for the earth, good for the animals and good for you all at the same time seems like such a no-brainer. It’s like the biggest ‘Duh!’ ” Silverstone said in a video for the nonprofit Farm Sanctuary’s Compassionate Meals program.

She also shared that when Bear is prompted about what his favorite thing about being a vegan is, he responds: “That you don’t have to eat yucky meat.”

Silverstone caused a buzz in 2012 when she posted a video of herself chewing up food and feeding it directly into Bear’s mouth from her own.

“It’s his favorite … and mine. He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating,” she shared.

And while many have criticized the idea of putting children on a strict vegan diet, Silverstone has fervently defended her family’s lifestyle.

“[Bear] loves the food I give him,” she told PEOPLE in 2014. “He’s not being deprived of anything. For him, having amazing fruit is like candy!”
