And in April, actress America Ferrera, who is expecting her second child this year, also celebrated another year around the sun as she turned 36 years old. And while she thought her birthday would just be celebrated while at home with her child and her husband, her husband had a little surprise under his sleeve.
As Ferrera shared on Instagram, her “sneaky and dear” husband Ryan Piers Williams surprised her with a Zoom birthday party.” Ferrera said she felt “completely overwhelmed” by all the love and emotions she felt.

“I have to be honest, I’ve seen a million of these posted and thought “how could that be fun?” But as you can see from these pictures, I was completely overwhelmed with joy and love! I had no idea how much I wanted to be with my community and to see the faces I love so much! Ryan, you turned my quarantine birthday into one of the most joyous and memorable! You filled me with love and cake and ended it with a virtual dance party!! You are the best. So grateful for community and friendship and love.”
Additionally, Ferrera opened up about what it’s like to be pregnant during this unprecedented time. The soon-to-be mom of two shared the personal message so that other women who are expecting know they aren’t alone in their fears.
“As this baby grows inside and I attempt to breathe through the fears and unknowns of this time, I am thinking of all you other mamas bringing new life into this world right now. And also of all the women across generations and centuries and borders who have and are currently birthing new life in the midst of so many extraordinary and daunting circumstances. Life is a miracle, and mamas make it possible through their strength and power. Hang in there, pregnant mamas! We got this.”
Ferrera and Williams first announced they were expecting baby number two on New Year’s Eve. Their oldest son Sebastian will turn two years old this year.
