As actress Anne Hathaway nears the end of her pregnancy, the soon-to-be mom of two is celebrating with her famous friends. After excitedly revealing she and her husband Adam Shulman were expecting another child in July, People reports that the actress hosted a baby shower at her New York home on October 12.
Among the guest list was her friend and fellow actress Jessica Chastain, best known for her role in Zero Dark Thirty and more. According to E! News, the baby shower was described as “low-key” and a “surprise” despite the party being thrown in her own home.

A source told E! that “it was a surprise baby shower! Anne walked in and everyone yelled ‘Surprise.’ She looked completely shocked and put her hand over her mouth then her face. She hugged one of her friends and said ‘You guys are so good!'”
The source also said the decorations at the bridal shower didn’t clue anyone in on if Hathaway and Shulman are having another boy or their first girl. However, the parents do know the sex of their unborn child.
While a guest on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Hathaway told Ryan Seacrest that although they do know the sex, they aren’t telling anyone yet. She also didn’t want to confirm her due date but said they’re very close.
She also assured fans that the color of her dress she was wearing that day was in no way an indication that she is expecting a baby girl, adding that she’s a very convincing liar when it comes to facts about her pregnancies.
For example, when she was pregnant with her first child she told everyone that he was due in May and his name was going to be ‘Quandré,’ when in fact they were naming him Jonathan and he was due in March.

Hathaway and Shulman married in 2012 after dating for four years. According to Harper’s Bazaar, the couple met at a Palm Springs Film Festival and Hathaway says it was love at first sight. After marrying on September 29, 2012, Hathaway and Shulman welcomed a baby boy, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, into the world in 2015.
After revealing they were expecting baby number two, Hathaway used her announcement to let other women going through fertility issues know they aren’t alone. She wrote on Instagram, “It’s not for a movie…#2. All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”
While Hathaway tends to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, the proud mom hasn’t shied away from showing off her bump on Instagram.
