It has been a trying year for former Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood and her family. Between opening up about her struggles with thoughts of suicide to battling for custody of her son, Portwood’s trials and tribulations have been played out for the public.
Most recently, a YouTube channel has released verified video and audio from the day the mom-of-two reportedly chased her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, Andrew Glennon, with a machete during a domestic dispute. The argument took place on July 4.

The Attack
According to a police affidavit, after becoming agitated over the fact that they couldn’t see fireworks due to heavy traffic, Glennon reportedly dropped Portwood off at their home to “cool off” before leaving with their son, James.
The affidavit alleges that after Glennon returned home, Portwood first assaulted him with a shoe as he was holding their son before reportedly threatening to take her own life by swallowing a handful of pills and then “regurgitating” them.
It was then that Portwood grabbed a machete and then allegedly charged at Glennon and James. After locking themselves in a room, Glennon called the authorities for help. Portwood was arrested and charged with domestic battery, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery in the presence of a child.
Now video and audio evidence recorded with their Ring security system are being released.
A Play-by-Play of What Happened on July 4
A YouTube channel called Without a Crystal Ball created a 28-minute long video that summarizes the attack with the newly released audio and video.

The initial videos show the couple getting ready for the fireworks show they had planned on watching together as a family. However, when the traffic prevents that from happening, you see Glennon take Portwood home before driving off again.
Audio also reveals the argument the couple had inside the vehicle. Portwood is heard threatening to beat up and kill Glennon, as he tells her to stop hitting him while he’s driving with their son in the car.
This is when Portwood starts to get more and more agitated. At one point speaking into the Ring camera at Glennon, letting him know that she put some of his valuables outside and that he needs to bring their son home and get his things.
Other pieces of audio reveal Portwood seemingly admitting to taking a handful of pills before throwing them up and grabbing a machete.
The Charges and Amber’s Future
Portwood since took a plea deal, pleading guilty to domestic battery and intimidation, according to TMZ.
Despite being on probation, Portwood has been fairly active on Instagram. Most recently, issuing a birthday message to her oldest daughter Leah.

Portwood’s employer, MTV, has not yet commented on these recent updates or the plea deal she took. It remains unclear what her future with the production company and the show will be.
