Baby Milan Isla McGraw, who survived her mother’s tragic shooting in October, has died at three months old. Her mother, 19-year-old Iyana McGraw was shot inside her Jacksonville, Florida apartment days before her delivery date, according to News4.
Iyana’s aunt Gloria McGraw talked to the local news outlet about her beloved niece. “She was so young. Four days and Milan would have been here, healthy baby.” Iyana was killed just four days before her due date.
Baby Dies 3 Months After Surviving Her Mother’s Shooting
Following the shooting, just minutes old, Milan was taken by paramedics to a hospital in Atlanta. The infant had been in critical condition since arriving there. According to Action News Jax, Milan required a ventilator and she showed no signs of brain activity.
McGraw continued, telling News4, “At some points, we had hope that she would be able to do it. They took her off the machine and put her right back on because she couldn’t do it.”
“She was trying to fight, but she couldn’t do it. We had a lot of hope thinking we would have Milan here, thinking Iyana would live through her. However, God had other plans.”

According to reports, Iyana lived with her boyfriend in the apartment where she was shot. It’s believed that the boyfriend may have been the intended target of the shooting. Now the aunt hopes part of God’s plan also includes justice for Iyana and Milan.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by News4, police found guns, ammunition, mailing envelopes, and marijuana in vacuum-sealed packages at the scene of the crime. As of January 30, no arrests have been made in connection with the crime. Although, when a suspect is arrested, they will now be charged with double murder.
