Our hearts are still aching over the news that Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, who share three sons together, are no longer together. Though that split happened all the way back at the end of 2019 (aka 67 lifetimes ago), it still stings.
But the heart wants what it wants, and who are we to have opinions about anyone else’s relationship? And so it goes. Since they split, both have begun dipping their toes into the dating pool, though Fox’s relationship with musician Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Richard Colson Baker) has been the talk of the town for months.
In an Instagram Live that published on August 29, 2020, a fan asked Green if he likes Fox’s new boyfriend, according to E! Online.
Green’s response? “I’ve never met him. I have no idea.” But that’s not all he said.
“I’ve never heard anything bad from him or bad from Megan about him,” Green added.
Though he was clearly treading carefully, Green did reveal that he has “heard bad stories about” Machine Gun Kelly.
Green continued, “I can say, yeah, I’ve heard bad stories about him.” He did not specify to what, exactly, he was referring. “But I’ve heard bad stories about myself as well and I know that most of those aren’t true,” Green said, showing some commendable restraint and empathy for someone living their light in the limelight.
“I trust my own instincts on meeting somebody and somebody else whose instincts I feel have always been really spot on, so, as of right now, I have no problem with him at all,” Green added, referring to both himself and Fox’s instincts.
He concluded by saying, “I really hope that he and Megan are happy because it’s important that she’s happy. It’s important that everybody is happy.”
Green also spoke about a possible reconciliation between him and Fox: “Never say never.”
In the same Instagram Live, again per E! Online, Green said there may even be a chance that he and Fox reconcile sometime in the future. “I never say never,” he said. “You never know. I kinda feel like people are on paths in life and sometimes your paths are together and you travel that path together and you see eye to eye and then sometimes paths do different things.”
Green and Fox share three sons — Noah Shannon (7), Bodhi Ransom (6), and Journey River (4) — whom they currently still co-parent. Their marriage lasted nearly 10 years, and it is very clear they both still feel affection toward one another.
“We had an amazing 15-year relationship,” Green said of Fox. “We have three beautiful kids. We shared a lot together and we really went through a lot together. So, right now, the paths are — they’re different and she is on her path doing what she feels she needs to be doing to be happy and I’m on my path doing what I feel I need to do to be happy and it’s not for a lack of love for the kids or lack of being responsible.”
Though Green seems to be handling an emotionally complicated situation quite well, he occasionally hasn’t been able to resist himself. Earlier this summer, he threw some very good (and friendly… ish) shade at Fox after she shared a photo of herself with Machine Gun Kelly captioned, “Achingly Beautiful Boy… My heart is yours.” Green responded by sharing a photo gallery of their sons with the very-similar caption, “Achingly beautiful boys…… My heart is yours.”
Only time will tell if Green and Fox find their way back to each other, but in the meantime we wish everyone health and happiness!
