Dennis Davis, a hiker who claims to have seen fugitive Brian Laundrie on Oct. 2, shared information with the FBI and North Carolina authorities on Wednesday. Davis claimed that the FBI agent he met with “took a lot of notes” as he recounted the alleged sighting.
As Mamas Uncut reported, the hiker said he was “100%” certain that the man he encountered on Waterville Road around 12:30 AM at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line near the Appalachian Trail was indeed Laundrie who is wanted for debit card fraud charges.
The Hiker, Who Is From Florida, Says He Met with the FBI for 45 Minutes to Discuss the Potential Sighting of Brian Laundrie.
The hiker, who is from Florida, spoke with the FBI and Haywood, North Carolina, sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday for approximately 45 minutes to discuss the chance encounter. During the meeting, the man Davis believes to be Laundrie asked him for directions to California. As you might recall, the Appalachian trial is the location Dog the Bounty Hunter has been conducting his search for Brian.
“I’d say it was a pretty straightforward meeting,” Davis told Fox News. “I met with one FBI agent and two … local sheriff’s officers. We went through the story from top to bottom. They obviously asked details about Brian and the vehicle and the overall interaction.”
Many have reported Laundrie sightings across the country as his location remains unknown in the closely followed case. People have claimed to have seen the 23-year-old fugitive in Watauga County and Boone, North Carolina, according to multiple reports. Another potential witness said that she believed she encountered Laundrie at a Bristol, Tennessee, gas station on Sept. 29. No other sightings have been confirmed.
“I told them … the main reason for … asking for the meeting with them was because I wanted them to gauge for themselves if they thought I was a credible witness, but the thing they did tell me is that they’re taking any tip as credible,” Davis told Fox News.
In a later interview with NBC, Davis told the outlet more about the potential interaction with Laundrie. “Just the way he was acting, the things he was saying, made me think that he was not stable.”
Davis said he looked up photos of Laundrie after the interaction and has no doubt that’s who he saw. “When I opened up that picture of him … my body … I had a physical reaction to it. My heart jumped out of my ribcage. It felt like my blood just started pumping. There’s no doubt in my mind… You know, the way my whole body reacted to that encounter.”

Davis said he was driving when I man waved him over for help. “He went to tell me that he and his girlfriend had a fight. And, that she called him and told him she loved him. And, then he told me that he was trying to get to California to see her. I basically sat in my car wide awake for the next four hours… five hours. Because I couldn’t go to sleep I was just super pumped up. I was thinking let’s get the police out here to go catch this guy.”
Brian Laundrie is a person of interest in the homicide of his fiance Gabby Petito. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, a search is underway at Carlton Reserve, a nature reserve in Florida. Chris Laundrie, Brian Laundrie’s father, is assisting authorities as they search 24,000-acre reserve.
There’s still so much to uncover about this case. We hope that Dennis Davis’ interview with the FBI helps them in their investigation as they try and piece together a clearer picture of his movements after his time with Petito.
