BREAKING: Jamie Spears Has Been Suspended as Conservator of Britney Spears’ 13-Year-Long Conservatorship

On September 29, the world waited with bated breath as a judge decided the next steps in Britney Spears’ 13-year-long conservatorship. From whether her father, Jamie Spears should be removed as conservator or if her conservatorship should be completely dismantled altogether, Britney, her legal team, and her thousands of supporters hoped for the best.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Jamie had revealed that he was open to the idea of stepping down as his daughter’s conservator when the time was right. A few weeks later it was revealed that Jamie had filed a petition to end Britney’s 13-year conservatorship completely.

It’s unclear if that petition from the conservator himself would have suede Judge Brenda Penny one way or another. And now we know.

According to CNN, certified public accountant John Zabel has been appointed as the temporary conservator of her estate. Britney Spears was not present at the hearing, nor did she call in.

Britney’s fiancé took to Instagram to share a brief statement following the judge’s ruling:

As Twitter users praised Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart, this was a hard-fought win. “The performance of Britney’s lawyer today in court — fighting vehemently on her behalf — is incredible, but it’s also what a lawyer *should* be doing on behalf of their client,” Gibson Johns tweeted. “Imagine if she had gotten to choose her own lawyer 12 years ago back in 2009.

In previous testimonies, Britney had opened up about how restricting and harmful her conservatorship had become. From not being allowed to get married or have kids, to being forced on strong medications, Britney revealed to the public what her life had been like since she was 27 years old.

And as The New York Times’ most recent documentary, Controlling Britney Spears, revealed, Jamie allegedly hired a security team to monitored not only Britney’s every move but also secretly captured audio recordings of conversations Spears would have in her bedroom.

These conversations consisted of personal ones she had with her boyfriend and children. This new realization is coming to light after one of the former employees of the security team has come forward.

Alex Vlasov came forward to share the story as The New York Times worked on its new documentary Controlling Britney Spears. Vlasov used emails, texts, and audio recordings to corroborate his claims.

Jamie’s counsel had claimed that he had only ever acted within “the parameters of the authority conferred upon him by the court.”

Now, Britney is engaged to be married to her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari and things are starting to look up for the pop star. For a time, Britney had mentioned that she may never grace a stage again. Now that she is able to make more of her own decision it is unclear if that will change.
