Chrissy Teigen Gets Real About Parenting, Anxiety, and Being Able to Afford Help While Gracing the Cover of Vanity Fair With Her Family

Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Luna Simone, and Miles Theodore are all gracing this months cover of Vanity Fair. Earlier this week, the adorable cover was released showing the model surrounded by the ones she loves the most.

The cover showcases the family of four huddled in their backyard. While Teigen sweetly closes her eyes as John kisses her cheek, Luna can be seen in her mother’s lap smiling at the camera, as Miles chills in his father’s arms.

And if Teigen’s latest tweet says anything, it’s that her family loves her back just as much. Shortly before the Vanity Fair cover was revealed, Teigen took to Twitter, and in rare fashion, praised Legend for being a wonderful husband.

Teigen wrote, “I do not normally brag about john, as it is my schtick to make fun of him always, but he flew from London to LA instead of London to DC to have dinner with me and watch love island UK because I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Just a few hours but it meant a lot. Thank u.

She continued, “AND he had to fly on his least favorite airline. That is love.” And John later replied to her tweet saying, “I love you my baby. See you tonight.”

During their interview with Vanity Fair, Teigen opened up more about dealing with anxiety and sometimes not feeling like herself. She told the magazine that her battle with anxiety has, at times, made it difficult for her to remember memorable moments in her life, both good and bad.

“For instance, her wedding day is reportedly a blur as is the time in high school when her mother went to Thailand and didn’t come home for years,” E! News reported. Teigen also talked about parenting their little ones, saying she hates “pretending that we do it on our own. We have daytime help, nighttime, weekend. I don’t know how my mom did it.”

Their Vanity Fair article also describes Teigen and Legend as a normal husband and wife who truly adore each other. The couple met thanks to a photographer they both knew. Legend was 27 and Teigen was just 21. Legend said he had no idea he wanted to be with someone funny until he started dating Teigen.

Selma director Ava DuVernay said of their life together, “I’ve been nourished by watching them. It’s just beautiful to see a real melding of their family life—their home life, those moments they curate with their children—side by side with real activist commentary about the way that they feel in the world.”

And reporter Yashar Ali added, “What makes them the perfect couple is their lack of interest in appearing to be perfect.”

The couple also talked about the infamous Twitter battle between Teigen and the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. John took the moment to defend his wife, slamming Trump for being “terrible.”

“We know this president has a particular aversion to strong women coming after him, particularly women of color. So he had to call her out. Every time he does something like this, he just makes himself look more terrible. I don’t know that that incrementally convinces anyone not to vote for him, but he just proves himself to be a shitty human being every day.

And while Teigen is quite literally known for being the queen of social media, she admitted to Vanity Fair that she’s constantly worried about what a hater might say or what people must think of her as a mother when she posts countless pictures of her children on her public Instagram account.

“I know a lot of people who make the conscious decision to blur out their kids’ faces. I worry, What must they think of me? They must think I’m insane.” She continued, “It’s almost like the more things you do, the closer you are to getting canceled. It’s so scary to me—to have the world turn on you and hate you.”
