On June 28, Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak took to Instagram to share heartbreaking news with his followers. On June 17, Pastrnak and his girlfriend Rebecca Rohlsson welcomed a baby boy into the world.
In January of 2021, the couple excitedly announced that they were expecting their first child together. The 25-year-old hockey star announced the big news with an adorable video of them finding out the gender of their unborn child.

David Pastrnak Makes Heartbreaking Announcement Just Days After Becoming a Father for the First Time.
He and Rohlsson have been together since 2018. Sadly, Pastrnak is now making a heartbreaking announcement six months later. According to the hockey player’s latest Instagram, their son was born on June 17. The couple named him Viggo Rohl Pastrnak.
It’s unclear what exactly happened, but in that same Instagram, Pastrnak also revealed that after six days with their son, Viggo passed away on June 23. The couple has not divulged any further information.
“We have an Angel watching over us and we call him SON,” Pastrnak wrote. “You will be loved FOREVER.”
The hockey star then asked the public to “please respect our privacy as we are going through these heartbreaking times.” Fans, fellow athletes, and teammates flocked to the comments section to offer their sympathy.
“Upřímnou soustrast,” a handful of people wrote, which means their sincerest condolences in his native Czech. Former New England Patriots star, Julian Edelman also wrote, “Prayers are with you and your family today.”

The NHL also issued a statement offering their condolences to the Pastrnak family. “The entire National Hockey League family sends our prayers and deepest condolences to David Pastrnak and Rebecca Rohlsson on the heartbreaking passing of their newborn son, Viggo.”
It remains unclear if David Pastrnak or Rohlsson will open up about what happened in the days ahead. For now, our thought and prayers are with the Pastrnaks as they attempt to navigate through this difficult time.
