Hilary Duff Gets Real About the Crushing Effects of Mom Guilt After Bout with Severe Illness

Even Hilary Duff can’t escape the mom guilt while sick in bed.

The Lizzie McGuire and Younger actress recently had a “very contagious” case of strep throat and found it difficult to balance caring for her two children, Luca Cruz, 7, and Banks Violet, 10 months, and recovering from the illness.

“I’m super sick – I think I have strep throat – and I’m in bed…I’m getting an IV to hopefully feel better,” she posted to her Instagram Story. “As a parent, why does it feel so horrible to be sick? Like, the guilt of being in bed.”

“There’s obviously times when I’ve had to be with my kids all day long, sick and feeling horrible, with no help,” she continued. “But today, I have help and I should be resting and the guilt is crazy.”

Fans, though, were excited to hear that she was planning on using the rest time to catch up on Lizzie McGuire, just in time for the recently announced reboot.

“I’m going to take this opportunity to watch Lizzie McGuire, like, start to finish,” she said. “I’m going to do all my research and get it all fresh in my mind.”

Disney announced that it would be bringing the beloved series back at the D23 Expo convention.

“I am beyond excited. Honestly, I’ve thought about what I would say for quite a few days now, and I don’t really have words,” Duff said following the announcement. “It’s crazy, I’ve really missed her.”

Whether she’s keeping it real on Instagram or bringing back beloved television characters, we love and support Hilary Duff and her continued candor about important issues like mom guilt.
