Jamie Lynn Spears Is Making Moves After She Was Named as the Trustee to Her Sister Britney Spears’ Fortune—She’s Making Sure Her Nephews Are Well Taken Care Of

After it was reported that Britney Spears‘ father was trying to get his role back as one of her conservators, an update has revealed that Britney’s younger sister, 29-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, will start playing a bigger role in the conservatorship. Nearly one year ago, Britney and Jamie’s father, Jamie Spears, stepped back as a conservator for personal health reasons.

Earlier this month, the father filed a petition to the Superior Court of California to have him and Andrew Wallet, “an attorney who once helped oversee the singer’s finances, reinstated as her co-conservators. However, having her father as a co-conservator is no longer something that Britney wants.

In a court filing of her own, Spears allegedly strongly opposed her father returning as her main conservator. Instead, the performer “strongly prefers to have a qualified corporate fiduciary appointed to serve in this role,” which would be Jodi Montgomery — a licensed conservator — who stepped in when her father stepped away.

Now, the 38-year-old’s youngest sister is stepping into the conservatorship to help. According to The Blast, Jamie Lynn was named the trustee of Britney’s “SJB Revocable Trust.” The trust was established in 2004 so that her finances would be protected and ensure her two sons, 14-year-old Sean Preston and 13-year-old Jayden would be provided for.

As the documents obtained by The Blast reveal, after becoming the trustee, Jamie Lynn then requested that Fidelity Financial Management be given the authority to serve as a financial advisor and create “blocked accounts” to hold the pop star’s assets.

This will then make it so that, in order to access the trust, they will need a judge’s approval. Now, Jamie Lynn’s main job will be to ensure the assets and cash within the trust will only be given to Sean and Jayden should Britney pass away.

Jamie Lynn first made headlines in regards to her sister’s conservatorship and the #FreeBritney movement that it has steamed in July. After sharing screenshots about the severity of mental health, a fan question Jamie about what she thought of Britney’s “obvious” mental health concerns.

The actress responded to the since-deleted comment saying, “You have no right to assume anything about my sister, and I have NO right to speak about HER health and personal matters. She is a strong, badass, unstoppable woman, and that’s the only thing that is OBVIOUS,” Page Six reports.

Also asking to be involved in her daughter’s conservatorship is Britney’s mom, Lynne. And it’s because of these recent filings that the conservatorship has been extended until at least February 2021.
