Jamie Otis Reveals She and Husband Decided to Change Their Newborn Baby’s Name Two Days After His Birth

Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner are no longer in love with the name Hayes Douglas Hehner, which is the name they originally choose for their newborn son. But rather, the couple is now revealing that they changed his name to Hendrix Hehner.

Two days after announcing the birth of their baby boy, the couple revealed their decision to change their son’s name and why.

WE HAVE A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!???????????????? We changed our sons name. We filled out his birth certificate & have officially changed it from Hayes Douglas to Hendrix Douglas.????⁣ ⁣ We couldn’t decide between Hayes and Hendrix our whole pregnancy.???? We ended up going with Hayes, but the moment I pushed him out & brought him to my chest I almost blurted out, “Hendrix!”☺️⁣ ⁣ My whole pregnancy we struggled finding the “right” name for our precious baby boy. We had @sj_strum who’s a baby name expert from Europe come on our podcast and share some names and meanings … she revealed to us that Hendrix is loosely tied to Johnathan.????????⁣ ⁣ As many of you know, our first born son’s name is Johnathan. I delivered him at 17 weeks & he went straight to heaven to be our little angel watching over us from above.????????⁣ ⁣ I never used to believe in spirits really, but I know in my heart that Johnathan is with us …I mean, I can *feel* him and he sends so many signs.????????????⁣ ⁣ This first photo was one of the last ones I had with Hendrix in my belly…it wasnt a “professional” shoot – it was just taken in our backyard. You can see the light shining down from above directly over my belly.????????⁣ ⁣ Then the second photo was on our baby moon. The day we woke up for our maternity shoot there was a double rainbow!???????? we couldn’t even believe it! Since I lost two pregnancies prior to conceiving Hendrix, he is considered a double rainbow…and rainbows always remind me of Johnathan.⁣ ⁣ The last sign was the day I was due with Hendrix. I had to go to the midwife for a check up and on the way home there was a random rain storm that had a rainbow! I was driving and couldn’t snap a photo but I wish I had just pulled over to grab one!????????‍♀️ It was so incredible!???? I mean, what are the chances?!⁣ ⁣ I could chalk it up as coincidence, but I really don’t think so! Call me crazy, but I know our angel baby sent us this sweet rainbow baby. He’s telling his parents he’s been watching over Hendrix (and Gracie) and will continue to do so.????????????????????⁣ ⁣ We are so happy to honor our angel baby & name our newborn son a name that is affiliated with his….even if it is in a very uncommon way.????????????????⁣

As Jamie explained, during her pregnancy with Hendrix, she and Doug were going between the names Hayes Douglas and Hendrix Douglas. Ultimately, the couple landed on the name Hayes because Jamie believed that if she knew the name of her son in utero that it would help her bond with him like she was able to bond with Henley before she was born.

However, when the little boy was born, something about him screamed Hendrix. The mom of two explained that while their daughter’s name Henley Grace, who they call Gracie, has a huge meaning behind it, Hayes was just a name they liked.

Then they learned that the name Hendrix is loosely tied to the name Jonathan.

As many of the family’s “frans” already know, the couple named their firstborn child Jonathan after they lost him at 17 weeks gestation. Jamie and Doug learned that the two names were tied in some way after talking to “SJ Strum, who’s a baby name expert from Europe,” on their podcast. The couple never went on to explain how the names are related.

It’s wild to think just 3 days ago his whole body was INSIDE my belly.????????????????????????⁣ ⁣ It is so amazing what a woman’s body can do! I mean, us women get one little sperm from a man & then we proceed to grow a tiny HUMAN inside us! …don’t even get me started on how strong we are to birth that tiny human — whether he’s pushed out or cut out, medicated or unmedicated — we are freakin superheroes!????????‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ I pushed this little guy out in a tub of water right next to my bed in the middle of my bedroom. After I got him in my arms I got out of the tub with the placenta still inside me & attached to him, climbed up on my bed, delivered my placenta and got stitched up while my son snuggled on my chest.???????? I kinda felt like a bad-azz super mama for a hot second! ???????? ⁣ ⁣ ….Until the fourth trimester hit me like a ton of bricks!???? Ahh, the adrenaline soon ran out!???? My vagina’s on fire, my butt feels like it exploded, and my nipples are back to being cracked and bleeding from nursing ????????‍♀️ (didn’t really expect this one since I nursed Gracie for a full year).????⁣ ⁣ Still, I wouldn’t change *any* of this journey. I feel so BLESSED to get to be a mommy again.???????? I don’t know what you think, but I def think the fourth trimester is the hardest trimester… physically, mentally, & emotionally! If anyone has tips to make it easier I’ll take ‘em! I’ve done this before but I’m wide open to learning/trying something new to heal faster!????????⁣ ⁣ And total side note, but Doug and I have a huge announcement we want to share with you – our FRANS – first! We will be LIVE tomorrow right here on my Instagram at 7:30pm EST. Can’t wait to see you, share our news, and chat for a few minutes!????⁣ ⁣ Another side note: that second pic Gracie came running up, kissed his foot, hugged me and then ran away ???? Doug snapped the pic while I was saying “awwww!!!”???? She is such a sweetheart!☺️⁣

“I never used to believe in spirits really, but I know in my heart that Johnathan is with us. I mean, I can *feel* him and he sends so many signs,” Jamie said. One of those signs occurred on the day Hendrix was born when a short rainstorm produced a rainbow near their home.

“Call me crazy, but I know our angel baby sent us this sweet rainbow baby. He’s telling his parents he’s been watching over Hendrix (and Gracie) and will continue to do so. We are so happy to honor our angel baby and name our newborn son a name that is affiliated with his even if it is in a very uncommon way.”

Jamie even live-streamed some of her contracts on Instagram.
