Jenelle Evans re-appeared in court on Tuesday, June 4, after losing custody of her three children last month. Jenelle, along with husband David Eason, showed up to give the judge an update on the counseling and parenting classes they’ve been attending, both of which they need to complete to court-ordered standards before they can regain custody. Unfortunately, a fight between Jenelle and her mom, Barbara Evans, broke out outside the courtroom.
Jenelle and David appeared in court again as they continue to fight for custody of Ensley, as well as Jenelle’s two older children, Kaiser (4) and Jace (9). Barbara currently has custody of Ensely and Jace. (Her son Kaiser is in the custody of his father, Jenelle’s ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith).
A video obtained by TMZ shows the 27-year-old arguing with her mom outside of the courthouse as she hugs Ensley goodbye in the parking lot.
“I’m right outside the courthouse, giving my daughter a hug,” Jenelle shoots back at her mom. “If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.”
Barbara responds that Ensley will “go hungry” because she doesn’t have enough time to eat her lunch and claims the show of affection is all for the cameras.
In an exclusive statement shared with Us Weekly, Jenelle says, “I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point. This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter. She fights so hard for my sister and my brother when they are the ones with major issues, not me.”
Jenelle posted about her statement to Us Weekly in an Instagram post in which she claims she’s calling social services on her own family. See it below.
On Monday, Barbara shared more loving family memories on her Instagram, including pictures from a recent day at the beach with Jace and Ensley. Barbara’s fans praised her for stepping up for the kids and caring for them as Jenelle and David fight to regain custody.
And while Jenelle’s Teen Mom 2 career has now ended, her final appearance on the show aired Monday night. During a fan Q&A, Jenelle claimed the show did accurately portray her as a mom, saying “A lot of this season showed me not being with my kids and literally going on trips with my friends. It didn’t show me changing diapers, getting them ready for school, it didn’t show any of that.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Jenelle Evans, Barbara Evans, and this ongoing custody fight.
When I’m not hanging out with my three-year-old and husband in Brooklyn, I’m busy writing stories for Mamas Uncut and managing PR + Marketing for Magnolia Bakery, based in New York City. On weekends, you can usually find me at a local park or playground pushing my daughter on the swings, “researching” the best almond croissants in Park Slope or launching into impromptu family dance parties at home, the sidewalk or, every once in awhile, a restaurant bathroom. I’m still trying to master the whole parenting thing, but I have learned that copious amounts of coffee, humor and humility are involved on a daily basis.
