On May 20, the couple took to Instagram to announce that they were expecting a rainbow baby just months after experiencing a miscarriage. The couple wrote, “miracles do happen” and that they were “so excited to announce that baby #2 is on the way!!!!”

“It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift! So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good.”

The couple later announced the gender of their unborn child before taking to Instagram once more to announce the birth of their baby girl and her name.

Lauren wrote, “Look who’s here! Bella Milagro Duggar was born November 8th, 2019 at 4:24 pm, weighing six-pounds, five-ounces and 18.5 inches long. Our hearts are so full! We are so thankful for God blessings us with such a healthy baby girl!”

Their First Pregnancy and the Miscarriage

Josiah and Lauren got married on June 30, 2018. And just four months later, they learned that they were pregnant for the first time. Sadly, while preparing for a trip, the 19-year-old mom-to-be fell ill, Josiah explained in an interview with TLC.

She was experiencing a miscarriage. “She was feeling really sick and started noticing some different things. [Lauren’s mom] Mrs. Swanson was there, so she was able to kind of help her out. I didn’t know exactly what was going on.”

Lauren described that day as the worst one of her life. She explained that before miscarrying in one of the bathrooms of their home, she was experiencing really bad cramping and assumed she had accidentally consumed something with gluten in it.

“Well, it was late in the night and I went to go to the restroom and right there was the baby. Gone. I couldn’t believe it and I was hoping it wasn’t true. It was the worst day of my life, really.” Lauren and Josiah named that child Asa.

The couple ultimately opened up about their story in hopes of connecting with other parents going through similar heartbreak. Now, Asa as a baby sister to look after from up above.
