Sources are confirming that singer Katharine McPhee and her husband, producer David Foster are expecting their first child together. This will be the first time McPhee will become a mom, Foster has five daughters, Erin, Amy, Allison, Sara, and Jordan, from a previous relationship.
News of their pregnancy began to spread after McPhee and Foster were seen out in public shopping for baby items. A source told E! News that becoming a mom is something McPhee had hoped for but also revealed the couple wasn’t trying.

“Katharine has always wanted to be a mom and to have a baby with David. They weren’t necessarily trying for a baby but were open to it happening this year. Since work has slowed down for both of them, they knew this year would be a great time for it to happen.”
The couple has known they were expecting for quite a while now, the source reports. McPhee and Foster told their immediate family members the news about a month ago.
As people have talked about before, McPhee is 36 years old, roughly the same age as Foster’s daughters. Foster will turn 71 this year. However, it’s not something that has caused a rift between Foster and his children. “They told their immediate family members about a month ago and everyone was very shocked and excited,” the source told E!. “Erin joked that their kids will be the same age.”
McPhee and Foster became husband and wife in June 2019. On the day of their wedding, McPhee shared a very touching story about their relationship.
“Exactly 13 years ago today my very first single, ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow,’ was released right after Idol. Today… I’m marrying the man who produced it. Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David.”
Foster has also been known to gush about his bride. As E! News reported, he once said of his wife, “I mean where do I start the inner beauty, the outer beauty, and we have been friends for 14 years, and it was just kind of a natural coming together.”
Neither McPhee nor Foster have commented on their pregnancy news. It’s unclear if they will.
