A California Mom Was Reportedly Beaten Up by the Same Teens Who Were Bullying Her Daughter When She Went to Talk to the School Principal

Maria Guadalupe Jimenez had gone to her daughter’s high school in northern California last week in the hopes of addressing the bullying her 16-year-old faced on a daily basis. Instead, she was allegedly brutally attacked by the same group of teenagers who had been bullying her daughter.

“The girl was very furious; they grabbed by the hair and dragged me,” Jimenez told ABC7 of the attack. “I just wanted to talk to the principal. You’d never imagine a kid would hit an adult. I thought we were safe on campus.”

Photos of Jimenez after the fight show her face bruised and swollen after she was punched and kicked. Jimenez, who gave birth just four months ago, was in the hospital for two days recovering from her injuries.

Union City Lt. Steve Mendez told People that “there were multiple people involved in the fight.” As a result of the incident, a juvenile was arrested and charged with battery with great bodily harm, according to the local police. He was later released.

However, the police are not quite sure exactly how the fight started.

“At this point we have one side telling us one thing and the other side telling us another,” he told People. “We don’t know who started it or how it started.”

“The motive is part of the investigation,” he continued. “There were at least six people involved in this thing. I am not saying they are active participants, but they were there.”

The school put out a statement to its students and families following the attack.

“The safety of our students, staff, and parents are our highest priority and we are continually looking for ways to improve,” School Superintendent John Thompson said. “We sincerely hope that the injured parent heals quickly.”

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help with medical expenses. As of this writing, it has raised more than $12,000 of its $15,000 goal.
