One mom is being praised by the multitudes for her genius “birthday gift-hack” idea that has gone viral on TikTok.
It all started on April 16 when Jenny Cimato admitted she was over constantly telling her daughter “no” whenever she begged for something in the store. I think we can all relate there….
So instead of being a softie and saying “yes,” the clever mom decided to instead create an unique compromise that has since become her kids’ favorite birthday tradition.
Jenny says it started when her little girl was young.
Every time Jenny would take her along on errands, not-so-surprisingly, her daughter would plead for items she saw in the grocery store — candy, tiny toys, etc.
And after saying “no” more times than she was happy with, Jenny decided to get creative.
“What I decided to do was, once a year for her birthday I’d go and I’d get all of those items that she’d ask for that I normally said no to, and I’d put ’em in a bag for her birthday,” she reveals in the TikTok video.

Her creation’s title? The “Bag of No”.
Not only was the “Bag Of No” fun for her child, it also made it easier to say “no” without fights or tantrums.
“It just turned into fun, where she knew that I’d say no in the moment, but she knew she’d eventually get it for her birthday, and you know it kind of took that sting away from when you say ‘no’ in the grocery store when they’re little,” Cimato explained.
Her daughter is now turning 16 — and while the items have changed a lot over the years, Jenny continues the tradition with her not-so-little girl.
The clip has been seen over 12.7K times with plenty of parents praising the mom-genius.
One user said: “Great tradition. She will always remember it.”
While another commented: “Where was this idea when I was young? Awesome tip!”
