A mom writes in asking for advice after she decided not to have a baby shower because it feels weird to celebrate a pregnancy she’s hated. But now she’s wondering how many other people decided not to have a baby shower and later regretted it?

“I’m not having a baby shower and it kinda makes me sad when I think about it because I hate this entire pregnancy. I’ve been alone and I feel like celebrating it is just a joke. Has anyone else not had a shower and regretted it?”

Some regretted it, others didn’t. It seems like anything can happen if you decide not to have a baby shower.

One commenter put it rather simply, “It’s completely up to you… I have four kids and never wanted baby showers and I don’t regret it.” Another woman wrote, “I didn’t and regret it. Do it. 🙂 [It] might make you feel better.”

And one mom offered the advice of an “arrival party” if she isn’t up for having a baby shower right now. “I had an arrival party with my 3rd. I didn’t feel like having a baby shower nor did I want every single person at the hospital after the labor. So it was kinda like a baby shower since people brought gifts. Maybe you might want to do that.”
