While police were en route to Bowers’ home, the 911 dispatcher notified them that they were on the phone with “the possible suspect.” After the teen called 911, fled from the home only to be located and arrested by the authorities.

The Warner Robins police department has not yet revealed the possible motive, or why the teen would have wanted to shoot and kill his own mom. It’s also unclear if the 13-year-old lived with Bowers’ full time.

According to the media release, the boy has been “charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault.” His first court appearance was on August 14. If he had entered a plea or if he has already retained representation, it is not known publicly.

He is now being held in the Crisp County Youth Detention Center. Bowers was also a Navy veteran and has shared family photos of her Facebook page. However, that is not to say anyone featured on her social media platform is her suspected killer.

Police are now asking anyone with any further information regarding this case and this mother and son’s relationship to call Detective Richards at 478-302-5380. On Facebook, a commenter wrote, “Praying for all involved, including WRPD. This must have been a horrific call to answer.” The police department responded to the comment, writing, “Thank you. Yes, it was.”

No other information regarding this case has been reported as of August 16. We will update this article as they become available. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bowers’ family.
