That might be illegal. Depending on the state, recording something without their knowledge is illegal and a lot of commenters made that known to this mom.

One commenter said, “Depending on the state, it might be illegal to record without informing the other party.”

Another added, “Do you not like her as a person? Or as a teacher? There is definitely more info needed here. And as a parent/adult, most people wouldn’t go trying to secretly record, they would go have a conversation with the principal or set up a meeting with both the teacher and principal to express your concerns and try to come to an actual resolution.”

And one more mom added, “Why don’t you like the teacher? What type of things do they say? I had a teacher say something really mean to my kid once and I pulled her into the principal’s office and told her about it. It never happened again.”
