Patrick Mahomes Doesn’t Want to Talk About His Brother’s Legal Troubles: “It’s Kind of a Personal Thing”

Patrick Mahomes isn’t interested in talking to reporters about his brother’s recent legal troubles. For those that haven’t heard, his younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, was arrested in May for battery and sexual aggravated battery after forcing himself onto the owner of a Kansas City bar he was at in February.

Reporters had an opportunity to speak with Patrick on Wednesday (May 31) during the Kansas City Chiefs’ organized team activities (OTAs). “Honestly, it’s kind of a personal thing that I just kind of gotta keep to myself,” Mahomes said when asked about his brother. Instead, he’s focused on playing football.

“At the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family at the same time. So just kind of keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I’m in the building,” he continued – spoken like a true two-time Super Bowl champion. The Chiefs’ regular season begins on September 7.

“I think that’s a process everyone has to navigate in life. Obviously, I’m on a bigger stage, but at the same time, it’s your family. But you have to come in here and do a job, and that’s what I try to do every day,” Mahomes explained when asked how he decides whether or not something should be kept private or not.

Mahomes’ comments come roughly one month after his 22-year-old brother, Jackson, was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual aggravated battery and one count of misdemeanor battery. He was taken into custody on May 3 and was eventually released from Johnson County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The charges come roughly two months after Jackson was accused of ‘forcibly’ kissing the owner of a bar he was attending in Kansas City on February 25 – just two weeks after his brother won the Super Bowl. Video evidence later confirmed his impudent behavior, which was described as ‘unlawful’ and ‘felonious.’

The owner of the bar, who was identified as Aspen Vaughn, didn’t consent to the kiss – yet Mahomes is maintaining his innocence and is claiming he committed no wrongdoing. He currently has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 31, but I wouldn’t expect anymore soundbites from Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes Enjoying His Role as a Father of Two

When Patrick Mahomes isn’t throwing touchdowns and winning Super Bowls, he’s at home being a model husband to wife Brittany Mahomes and model father to their two children – daughter Sterling Skye, 2, and son Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon, who turned 6 months old on May 28. And there might be more on the way!

Brittany took to her Instagram Story on May 28 to celebrate their son’s half birthday – sharing a photo of the happy little guy, who was all smiles in his checkered sweatshirt. They also celebrated their daughter’s second birthday earlier this year, on February 20, with a donut-themed birthday cake and bounce house.

The family also took a trip to Disneyland following the Super Bowl win, while Patrick and Brittany were spotted (without the children) at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade several days later. They attended a Lakers-Mavericks game in late-February before taking Sterling to a professional tennis match in March.
