After being diagnosed with precancerous cells of the cervix, 39-year-old nurse Rebecca Brown wasn’t sure that she’d ever become a mother.
In a fortunate turn of events, Rebecca won one million dollars playing the lottery, allowing her to afford two rounds of IVF. The elated single mom-to-be is now due to give birth in January 2020.

Rebecca Brown Uses Lottery Winnings to Fund IVF Treatments, and Now She’s Going to Be a Mom
After being told by doctors that she should move quickly if she wanted a child, Rebecca knew that she wanted to move forward, but wasn’t sure how she could afford the high cost of fertility treatment.
“I always thought I might have wanted children but I was never motivated enough to make it happen. The hospital told me if I wanted to have children I had to do it sooner rather than later.”

“Then at my last check-up, they said they might have to do a hysterectomy so that’s when told them, if I don’t have to have it, I’m going to have a baby.”
Thanks to her share of a family lottery win, the mom from Eastwood, Nottinghamshire was able to move forward with IVF.
“I was poorly last year and I thought, I want to do it, I’ve got to. I was able to pay for it so I did,” shared Rebecca. “My dad said, ‘But you need a man first’ and I said, ‘No, I don’t.’”
The lucky mama is choosing to keep her baby’s gender a surprise.
“’We do refer to it as a boy and call it Percy but whether it ends up being a Percy remains to be seen,” she added.
