Sesame Street Shares Series Of Public Service Announcements On COVID Vaccine

Sesame Workshop wants families — and kids included — to understand and embrace the COVID-19 vaccine.

Sesame Street has partnered with the Ad Council, COVID Collaborative, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to launch a series of public service announcements and resources on the COVID-19 vaccines that will be available in both English and Spanish.

In a recent press release, president and CEO of Ad Council Lisa Sherman revealed how the collaboration will allow them to:

“Reach new audiences of parents and caregivers with heartfelt and informative content that will help us all get back to the people and moments we miss.”

In the new PSAs, Elmo, Elmo’s dad Louie, and the Muppets of Sesame Street discuss how the COVID-19 vaccines are here and how getting vaccinated can get us all closer to “sunnier days.”

Many moments feature the letter “U” singing to a montage of activities many kiddos (and adults alike) are looking forward to, such as hugging and playing on the playground.

In another PSA, Elmo and Louie are feeling hopeful as others continue to get their COVID-19 vaccine — which means they will be able to enjoy playdates, trips, cookouts, sharing cookies with Cookie Monster at Hooper’s Store, and visiting Elmo’s grandma Nana, themselves.

And a third features Louie talking about why he got the shot himself.

In addition, Sesame Workshop is releasing additional bilingual resources for parents, caregivers, and providers to explain why adults are currently getting their shots, to offer age-appropriate answers to FAQs, and to also remind kids that other healthy habits like handwashing are still very important.
