My Sex Drive Has Been Completely MIA Since Having a Baby Two Years Ago: Advice?

A mom writes in asking for advice about her sex drive. She says she lost her sex drive following the birth of her daughter two years ago. At first, she thought it was likely due to hormones or even her postpartum depression medication, but she no longer thinks those are the cause of her issue.

“I lost my sex drive: Advice?

Did any of you lose your sex drive after having a baby? And if so, what did you do about it? My daughter is two, so At first, I thought it was hormones and whatnot, and I’d level out after a few months, but that was two years ago. In December/January, I thought it might have something to do with my PPD meds (Wellbutrin), so I stopped taking it, but still no change. I never had a problem with sex drive before, and I’m 25 if age matters at all. Thanks, ladies!”

My Sex Drive Has Been Completely MIA Since Having a Baby Two Years Ago: Advice?

The community offered this mom in need a lot of great advice. Read some of their responses below.

“I’m the same exact age and was on the same exact meds! On the same # of kids lol it’s the same with me.”

“Breastfeeding??? On any type of birth control now?? Both can affect sex drive.”

“I don’t know if you’re taking birth control or not, but that’s what did it to me. I’m a totally different person on and off of it.”

“Progessence Plus by Young Living helped me immensely. It’s a serum that you apply twice a day and it mimics the progesterone we naturally produce. I wish I found it sooner after I had my child. Message me privately if you’d like more information. It also helped with other hormonal problems like jawline breakouts and mood swings. I swear by this.”

“My oldest is almost 6. I thought the same thing about hormones. I’ve talked to my ob-gyn and they had no answers. Due to my insurance changing, I have my first ob-gyn appointment with a new doctor on the 13th. I’m hoping that they’ll have answers. It causes so many problems. If they say anything new ill post here but I’m losing faith. Good luck.”

“My bc has absolutely demolished my sex drive it’s been almost 2 years since I had my daughter.”

“Wellbutrin is actually supposed to HELP with sex drive. It’s why I got on it. Honestly, at the end of the day after work and childcare, the last thing I want to do is take care of myself and try to get all sexy to go out and get laid. I just don’t have it in me. Some days when I feel like I take better care of myself, it comes back, but oof, I’m just not feeling it these days either. You’re not alone mama. Talk to your doc. Rule out a medical condition.”
