Along with doing our part to stay home for the sake of all of humanity and our collective health, our roots are growing out, our hair is getting too long, and our nails are looking absolutely haggard. So in the spirit of keeping people entertained in their homes and knowing full well that hair grows back, Shawn Johnson East cut her husband’s long locks off while live on Instagram and YouTube.
As many of Andrew East‘s Instagram posts leading up to the big chop revealed, he was the one who begged Shawn to cut his long hair. And as someone who has to look at him for the next however many days, weeks, dare we say months, Shawn was hesitant at first.

However, after finally agreeing to give it a shot, the couple called on their hairstylist friend for guidance. And despite never cutting hair before, with the help of their friend over FaceTime, Shawn did a pretty decent job. Take a look:

Additionally, while live-streaming the big chop, the couple also raised money to donate to the people on the frontline, who are putting their lives and health at risk for our wellbeing. In total, they raised over $14,000. Shawn and Andrew also posted a reveal video as well:
Andrew has had long hair since the birth of their first child together, Drew Hazel, who they welcomed into the world in October 2019. So as well as filming the process of cutting his hair, they also filmed Drew’s reaction to seeing her dad with short hair for the first time.
And while she seemed unsure of what to think at first, when Drew finally heard her daddy’s voice, she remembered exactly who he was. Shawn captioned the video, “Drew’s reaction to Daddy’s new look. (Side note… mama LOOKIN ROUGH. Rockin that quarantine look you feel me?)”
And their fans melted over Drew’s reaction video. One commenter wrote, “She looked so confused at first! You did a great job, Shawn! Andrew looks so young lol.”
