BREAKING NEWS: As of 12:00 pm EST on 12/5/2022, ABC has made the decision to sideline GMA hosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach following news of their alleged affair.
As Yahoo! Entertainment confirmed, “ABC News President Kim Godwin told employees during an editorial call on Monday that while Holmes and Robach’s consensual relationship ‘is not a violation of company policy,’ the network is trying to ‘work through what’s best’ for the organization as the pair’s relationship has become a distraction. It’s unclear how long Robach and Holmes will sit out the broadcast as a source says, telling Yahoo it’s a ‘day by day’ situation.
When TJ Holmes and Amy Robach arrived on the set of Good Morning America, they weren’t just arriving as co-hosts – they were also arriving as a couple. This comes after photos surfaced online on Wednesday of the two holding hands in a car and ‘cozying’ up with one another at a bar in New York City.
The photos confirmed what many people have assumed and some already knew – the two co-hosts were dating. It sparked quite an uproar online, considering both Holmes and Robach are married. T.J. Holmes married Marilee Fiebig in March 2010, while Amy Robach married Andrew Shue in February 2010.
Although the photos surfaced on Wednesday, the couple returned to work, as scheduled, on Thursday – hosting GMA3 with Dr. Jennifer Ashton. They talked about a slew of topics, including winter health tips, addiction, and World AIDS Day. Among the topics they discussed, their relationship wasn’t one of them.

Seeing them on air just a day after their romance went public stirred a few feathers, but sources close to the situation are confirming there was no foul play by either party – describing them as ‘two consenting adults, who ended up loving each other.’ Unfortunately, not everyone at GMA felt similar sentiments.
In fact, some sources were growing tired of the ‘flirtatious’ behavior between the two, with Holmes and Robach being told to “knock it off” on several occasions. “There were so many people internally that were unhappy about it,” said one insider, adding that the relationship didn’t come as a shock to many.
While TJ Holmes and Amy Robach have yet to discuss the nature of their off-air relationship, here’s what we know at this point. Holmes and Robach were having marital troubles for years, with Robach’s marriage coming to an end “six months ago” and Holmes’ marriage coming to an end ‘four months ago.’
A source said their marriages came to an end within weeks of one another and confirmed there was no overlap between their romance and marriages. They didn’t start dating until after their marriages came to an end. They found solace in one another as they watched their friendship turn into something more.

TJ Holmes and Amy Robach have deflected rumors in the past as many colleagues and others close to the situation believed there was something there. In fact, rumors of them hooking up date back as early as 2017 – three years after Holmes joined the GMA team. The couple quickly shot down those reports.
“A lot of people believed there might have been some truth to it because you can see there’s a mutual affection there. But everyone ultimately chalked it up to friendship because they always said they were both happily married,” said one source. Another source called it the ‘worst kept secret at ABC News.’
As the rumors continued, Robach and Holmes did whatever they could to bring them to a stop – including avoiding each other as much as possible for years. Despite being very close friends, they “were terrified to hang out together” and intentionally tried not to appear too friendly as co-hosts to dispel the rumors.
