This Toddler Walked Into a Pond in the Middle of a Family Photo Shoot, and the Resulting Photos Are Absolute Perfection

Getting a great photo of the entire family basically feels like an Olympic sport. How can it be so hard? And, yet, it seems nearly impossible. Everyone is looking in a different direction, some people just refuse to participate and then there are the coordinating outfits. It’s no wonder so many family shoots end up with much more candid pictures than originally planned.

A couple in Tyler, TX recently found themselves in just that situation after trying to capture a family photo. Matt and Haleigh Mizzles set out to take a photograph at South Spring Baptist Church in Tyler, TX with a lovely pond in the background.

Jasmine Tamlin, the photographer, was able to catch some great shots of the family of five, but when she went to take pictures of just Matt and Haleigh, two-year-old Lincoln took the opportunity to take a dip in the pond.

“I finished taking photos of the kids, and they were sitting on a blanket behind me. I wanted to take some pictures of Haleigh and Matt,” Jasmine told POPSUGAR. “I started shooting, and then all of a sudden I heard quietness. I turned around and noticed that Lincoln is walking towards the water and I said, ‘Hey, Matt, he’s about to jump in!'”

Matt and Haleigh ran to him, but unfortunately, they were too late, and Lincoln dove right into the dirty pond. “I always keep shooting during a session, no matter what. I wanted to capture as many raw and real photos as possible!”

Tamlin was able to capture Lincoln going into the pond, as well as Matt and Haleigh’s humorous reactions.

“They didn’t expect it to happen, but I don’t think their minds were completely blown, either,” Tamlin said. “This is everyday life with a 2-year-old. You get some good, you get some bad, and you get swimming lessons in a dirty pond!”
