Walmart Is Hosting a Car Seat Trade-In Program for the Rest of the Month: Everything You Need to Know

Walmart recently announced that it will be hosting a Car Seat Trade-In Program from September 16-30. Customers can visit a participating Walmart and trade-in any expired or outgrown car seats in exchange for a $30 Walmart gift card

During this inaugural event, the collected car seats will be sent to TerraCycle, a waste management company, to be recycled.

“Through the Walmart Car Seat Recycling Program, traditionally non-recyclable car seats are now nationally recyclable,” Tom Szaky, CEO and founder of TerraCycle, said in a press release. “We are proud to work with this forward-thinking company to offer families from coast-to-coast a way to give their car seat, the item that has kept their little ones safe, a second-life. Through this event, we expect to divert the plastic equivalent of approximately 35 million water bottles from landfills.”

National Baby Safety Month, sponsored by Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), was developed to help educate parents and caregivers on the “importance of safely using and introducing age appropriate products to their child(ren) and when to transition their child(ren) to different products based on age, weight and development needs.”
