After Chrissy Teigen and John Legend used his music video for “Wild” to reveal that they are pregnant with their third child, people began to wonder if she was pregnant when she had her surgery to have breast implants removed. And surprisingly, the short answer is yes, she was.
However, there is more to the story than just that, Teigen explained on Twitter. Prior to having her breast implants removed, the model and cookbook author revealed that she did take the standard pregnancy test. However, the result of that pregnancy test was a false negative.
Chrissy Teigen Found Out She Was Pregnant After Surgery
Not to mention, Teigen had to use IVF to get pregnant with her first two children, Luna and Miles. So Teigen had no reason to believe the results of her pregnancy test were wrong as she and Legend weren’t exactly trying to have a third child.
In fact, John Legend has been calling the news of their third child a “quarantine surprise” he and Chrissy Teigen are “very excited” about.
So here is how it all went down. Teigen “did the routine pregnancy test you do before surgery. It said negative. It was not negative,” she explained on Twitter. “A few weeks after surgery, I took a test. And for many years now, I’ve taken pregnancy tests almost every month, praying to see a positive one day. Just wishful thinking. I never had a positive before.”
Teigen continued her story by saying it was the morning of Legend’s newest album release that she decided to take another pregnancy test. This was after her surgery.
“So the morning of John’s album release, he wakes up at 3 a.m. to do Good Morning America. I woke up with him and [I] was like man, should take my monthly test to be disappointed…I was not disappointed. But I was scared sh*tless. [I] was pretty positive you shouldn’t get your boobs out while pregnant? Pretty sure. So we prayed to the boob surgery gods that everything would be okay. [I] went to every appointment terrified. Even without the surgery, I didn’t think I could get pregnant naturally anyway. So the odds just felt…bad.”
But as it turned out, it was the miracle they didn’t know they were waiting for.
“What they say so often can be true,” Teigen continued. “When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you. In summary, my boobs hurt.” Wow, how amazing is that! Congratulations to the Stephens family!
