Following a hospital stay for excessive bleeding, two blood transfusion, a blood clot, and a scary Tuesday morning, Chrissy Teigen—who is currently pregnant with her third child—is finally breathing a sigh of relief. As many of Teigen’s fans know, the cookbook author and her EGOT-winning husband John Legend learned they were pregnant earlier this year.
This is the first time Teigen has been able to get pregnant naturally. Both Luna and Miles, their two oldest children, were conceived with the help of IVF.
Chrissy Teigen Reveals Scary Morning After Suffering a Blood Clot
However, like her first two pregnancies, her placenta has been deemed very weak and as a result, Teigen has been put on bed rest since the beginning of the month. And after days of being unable to move, Teigen was admitted to the hospital for excessive bleeding.
“I was always, always bleeding. I’m about halfway through pregnancy and blood has been going for a month…maybe a little less than a month,” Teigen revealed in one of her updates on Instagram stories. “But we’re talking more than your period, girls, but definitely not spotting. A lot of people spot and it’s usually fine. Mine was a lot.”
Nonetheless, Teigen and her unborn child were doing well and he was said to have been getting stronger and bigger by the day. “It’s so weird because I feel really good,” Chrissy continued. “I’m usually at my happiest pregnant, mood-wise. I feel happier than I do not pregnant. That’s why it’s so hard for me to come to terms with. It was at the point today where it was never stopping bleeding. That’s obviously very bad.”
Following a couple of days in the hospital, Teigen revealed she underwent two blood transfusions.
“Hello from [the] hospital. About to have my second blood transfusion which truly truly truly sounds more dramatic than it is. It’s an IV, but instead of fluids, the blood of some kind human being out there. Baby and I are completely fine, just missing the little things like walking…cooking…playing with the other buttbutts. Came across this little gem from ringing in 2020. It all makes sense now,” Teigen wrote on Instagram.
However, following that second blood transfusion, Teigen took to Twitter to reveal she had experienced a very scary morning. Teigen had a blood clot and doctors had a rough time finding her son’s heartbeat.

“The scramble to hear the heartbeat seemed like hours,” she wrote. “I never thought I’d relief sigh so much in my liiiiife.” And that was the last update Teigen has shared as of Tuesday evening.
