Dad Shields 3 Kids From Gun Fire, Then Gets Fired From 2 Jobs Because of His Injuries

After sustaining injuries while shielding his three children from a shooting at a car dealership, the man’s wife says he was fired from his two jobs. In an interview with TMZ, Anthony Jefferson‘s wife, Danica Jefferson, revealed that while protecting his children, he was shot in the thigh.

And because of his wound, Jefferson is still unable to walk. As a result, Danica says her husband was “fired from his two jobs as a head painter at a maintenance company and as a construction worker in NYC.”

While in the Bronx with his three kids, a GoFundMe page set up to raise money to help Jefferson and his family get through his recovery said Jefferson was “shopping for a vehicle to surprise his wife as her birthday gift, when 3 suspects fired multiple shots at a male.”

That male “then returned fire, striking Anthony Jefferson three times. According to the GoFundMe, the father was hit “twice in his boot and once in his thigh” while doing what he could to shield his three children from the bullets.

“Due to his injury, Anthony lost his job and has to have surgery to remove the bullet. This GoFundMe is to help this heroic dad with his medical bills and his kids with therapy. They are beyond traumatized.”

According to TMZ, Danica said their children are now reluctant to go outside, they’re crying in their sleep, and the youngest keeps asking, “Why did the man shoot my daddy?” And although Jefferson was discharged from the hospital, he still has one of the bullets lodged in his leg. Danica says he will need another surgery as a result of that in the near future.

On the GoFundMe account, Jefferson shared a statement of gratitude for all the people who raised over $300,000 for his family.

“My sincere gratitude to everyone who have taken their time out to donate and to those who have expressed concerns, me and my family is highly grateful and appreciative of it all. I can’t express how much it meant to me reading it. Your kind words motivated me to keep pushing. God bless you all and your family.”

The names of the companies Jefferson used to work for have not been revealed. And as far as his chances of being able to walk again that is unknown as well.
