Drake and The Weeknd’s Fellow Collaborating Rapper ‘Trouble’ Fatally Shot

An Atlanta rapper by the name of Trouble, who collaborated with artists Drake and The Weeknd, has died. He was just 34-years-old.

Trouble, whose legal name was Mariel Semonte Orr, had his death confirmed in a statement shared on social media by Def Jam Sunday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble,” the label wrote on Instagram of the rapper. “A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented. RIP Scoob.”

Rockdale County Sheriff’s spokesperson Jedidia Canty revealed in a news conference, which was shared online by 11Alive, how Trouble was killed during a home invasion at the Lake St. James Apartments in Conyers, about 25 miles east of Atlanta, around 3:20 a.m. early Sunday.

Canty went on to describe the incident as “domestic” and revealed how Trouble was “visiting a female friend” when the suspect — who has been identified by authorities as Jamichael Jones — shot him in the chest once. Trouble had performed only hours before his death per Variety.

While no arrests have been made as of Monday morning, police did obtain warrants for Jones, 33, based on allegations of murder, home invasion and aggravated assault, Canty said.

Just after the news of Trouble’s death, many of his fellow colleagues paid tribute to him with posts on social media.

“HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO HAVE MET U LAUGH WIT U MAKE HISTORY WITH YOU AND GIVE U A REAL OPPORTUNITY YOU DESERVED, STILL 1 OF MY FAVORITE RAPPERS OUT THE CITY, REST EASY BROADIE,” Mike Will Made-It wrote on Instagram.

“Man, this s— ain’t cool,” said Jermaine Dupri on Twitter, alongside a photograph announcing Trouble’s death.

Meek Mill also shared a tribute on the social media platform, writing, “And I woke up to rip trouble…. Everybody texting be careful! Smh rip fam!!!!” Many other fans were quick to offer their condolences.

“My condolence to the mother that lost her child! It’s usually the other way around – mothers are buried by their sons after they’ve lived a full life enjoying their grandchildren-family! I feel their pain-I weep also! In Jesus’ name watch over his family,” one user commented.

While another user said, “D*** still remember when he first came out it’s getting harder [and] harder to listen to rap music makes me sad hearing about the rappers passing away week after week.”

Followed by, “My condolences to his family and friends! But this has to stop [our] brothers, sons, nephews, cousins, grandsons, husbands, Dad… Are getting tucking away like flys this has to stop it’s been too much and it’s still too much y’all talking about the police taking are black men away.”
