This Ecuadorian Husband And Wife Just Became The World’s Oldest Married Couple

Julio Mora secretly married his now wife, Waldramina Quintero, despite their families disapproving. And have been together ever since, seventy-nine years to be exact.

Mora is 110 years old while Waldramina is 104. According to relatives, both are lucid and in good health in Ecuador.

While there are longer marriages — at the moment — none exist between people so old, according to Guinness World Records – just short of a combined 215 years.

Mora was born on 10 March 1910, and Quinteros on 16 October 1915.

And on 7 February 1941, they were married in the first church built by the Spanish in Quito: La Iglesia de El Belén.

The two are retired teachers and currently live in Ecuador’s capital of Quito, where in mid-August they received the Guinness certification.

Their daughter Cecilia reveals how they are both lucid and active despite not having the agility they once had. But “for a month they have been different, more downcast because they miss large family gatherings.”

In total, they have four children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

“Since March, we have not had any of that,” Cecilia said. “My parents need family contact.”

She went on to reveal how her father likes watching television and drinking milk while her mother likes desserts and also likes to read the newspaper every morning.

Charlotte Henderson and John Henderson were previously listed as the oldest — they had a combined age of 212 years and 52 days and based in Austin, Texas.
