“How long after a c-section is it okay to get pregnant again?

Good day. I have a question: How long after a C-section is it 100% safe to get pregnant again? I have two children; both were C-sections but they are 7 years apart.”

Advice Summary

The community offered this mom in need a lot of great advice. Read some of their responses below.

“My doctor said 2 years at minimum, but the longer you wait, the less likely you are to experience complications.”

“I had two c-sections 14 months apart, and I would not recommend it. I had a lot of complications with my 2nd c-section.”

“That is 100% a doctor question. Specifically, the doctor who did your C-Section as she/he will know exactly what condition they closed in and what best to recommend.”

“It takes the average body between 12 and 18 months to heal from a pregnancy. Your best decision would be to get a check-up with your doctor.”

“Each of my c-sections were about 3 years apart and my docs were never concerned that it was too soon. I think they say to wait at least a year after to get pregnant again though.”

“After any pregnancy, the recommended time for full recovery is close to 2 years. Any closer and you run many medical risks to yourself and the second baby who is trying their best to grow in a less-than-opportune environment.”
