Jessica Simpson Was Mom-Shamed for the Dumbest Reason, Leading Her to Temporarily Disable Instagram Comments

Earlier this month, Jessica Simpson faced backlash after she posted a picture of her daughter Maxwell’s hair dyed a pale purple. Now, she’s making it clear she’s had quite enough of mom-shamers sharing their unsolicited feedback about her parenting decisions.

Last week, Simpson shared a picture of her youngest child, four-month-old Birdie, sitting in her stroller, and commenters just couldn’t help but pass judgment. People mistakenly thought Birdie was sitting in a car seat (the stroller is made by Cybex, a popular car seat brand). The responses rolled in: “Straps on this car seat do not provide correct support,” said one user. “That hard buckle should be on her sternum instead of belly to be optimally effective and not cause more harm if a car accident would happen (god forbid!,” said another.

Of course, everyone wants Birdie safe, and she is! She’s in a stroller and not a car seat, after all.

Fortunately, Simpson also had commenters come to her defense. “Look at the picture clearly before busting out your Mom cop comments!!! It’s a stroller!!!!! Mind your own business & worry about your own kids!!!,” one fan said.

In response to the mom shamers, Jessica turned off the comments on her post (though she has since turned them back on). Sometimes enough is enough, and measures must be taken to get people to change their behavior.

Earlier this month, after Simpson caught heat for letting Maxwell dye her hair, singer Pink rushed to Simpson’s defense.

Pink, who is also no stranger to online mom-shaming, also recently disabled comments on her Instagram, at least for pictures that feature her kids. Unlike Simpson, though, Pink has kept comments disabled on all relevant posts since announcing she was doing so last month.

Moms gotta do what they gotta do. And that’s that on that.
