Congratulations are in order!
“Both mother and baby are happy and healthy,” a representative for the couple tells People.
The baby girl is the couple’s first child together. They reportedly began seeing each other around the time of Usher’s 40th birthday party, in October of 2018. In August of 2019, the couple was seen picking up a marriage license in Beverly Hills, CA. Though no one knows exactly when they actually got married, they were both seen wearing rings in November of 2019. In December, Us Weekly was able to confirm that the couple had recently tied the knot. And in January of 2020, Smith was photographed sporting a noticeable baby bump, confirming that she was pregnant.
Jackson and Smith share very little about their lives via social media, so further information is currently scarce. Smith has been documenting her pregnancy journey on Instagram for the last few months, though. In a recent post, Smith posed nude and captioned the photo, “Mother: a fantastic voyage that begins in wonder and transformation.”
Smith has also hit up a few red carpets in recent months, rocking high-glamour fashion that accentuated her transforming body.
In another recent post, Smith cheekily thanked her team for working hard to keep her fashionable despite her changing body.
“Really grateful for the MVP of my team— the tape holding these pregnancy double d’s in this dress. praise jah,” she captioned the photo (below).
Last month, while doing press for Little Fires Everywhere — the Hulu show he stars in alongside Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington — Jackson opened up, just a little bit, about becoming a first-time parent, especially during the ongoing pandemic.
“I’ve never been a parent before, so I’m not quite sure how much of this is just first-baby anxiety and how much of this is pandemic anxiety. Yeah, man, it’s stressful. This is a lot to deal with,” he said.
Jackson also revealed that he goes to Witherspoon and Washington, both mothers themselves, for parenting advice, saying, “I have always kept my personal life and my work life pretty separate, but I don’t think I want to do that going forward, because I want to obviously have my child around when I’m at work — and just asking them how they integrate those two things and how they create an environment inside a set environment that’s a healthy place for a kid to be, because it’s often not.”
It takes a village! And it sounds like Jackson and Smith have one. Congratulations to them both, and we cannot wait to learn more about their baby girl.
