Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth and her husband Austin Forsyth welcomed their second child, a baby girl, last month. The couple chose the name, Evelyn Mae, for their daughter and now, they’re revealing even more about the experience of bringing her into this world.
In a new video, the Counting On star gives fans a behind-the-scenes look of her labor and eventual delivery. She even made sure she looked her best for the little one, applying makeup as she was in labor. Which is, we must say, absolutely wild.
Joy-Anna’s labor and delivery took a long time, so long in fact, that she put on makeup.
It was a long labor of love for the Christian soldier. So long, in fact, that she even had time to put on a fresh face. The labor began at 8 p.m. on August 20, before the baby finally arrived the next day, August 21, at 2:12 p.m. Her doctor induced the pregnancy, breaking her water, and Joy-Anna said she “instantly” started feeling contractions “two to four minutes apart.”
The makeup was applied with the aid of Austin’s sister, Rachel when the expectant mom was eight centimeters dilated.
The patient’s husband acts as a documentarian in the clip, narrating over it until he pauses while Joy-Anna applies powder. Yes, she can be seen putting on her powder as she breathes through a new contraction. Rachel hastily grabbed the powder from Joy-Anna and began holding her hand to help her through the minute-long contraction.
“She’s doing so good,” Austin said.
Before putting on her makeup, Joy-Anna decided to get an epidural shot after her contractions became more painful.
“I’m so happy I got the epidural. I don’t see how people do this without epidurals,” she told Rachel in the clip, to which her sister-in-law replied, “You did it with the last one.”
“I know, stupid. I don’t know how I did it with Gideon,” Joy-Anna added. “It hurts so bad.”
The new mother then turned to her husband and joked that she was done having children. “Babe, we’re not having another kid,” she said.

Baby Evelyn joins her 2-year-old big brother, Gideon. Two days after the birth, the happy parents publicly announced. They wrote that they had been “dreaming of this day.”
“To say my heart is full is an understatement,” the proud mom also shared.
“She has the best personality, is easy going, and loves to be held!” the mom described her newborn in the caption. “She has her nights and days mixed up, but honestly, I love it! Getting to spend that quiet, quality time with her through the night has been SO special! We are grateful for all the love and prayers that have come our way during this pregnancy.”
We’re excited for Joy-Anna, Austin, Gideon, and Evelyn. This growing family has a lot to be proud of. We just have one question, dear reader: Would you put on makeup while you were labor?
